Sparrow Pediatric Rehabilitation

The Ron Mason Fund for Kids

The Ron Mason Fund For Kids was established in 1998 to benefit the Sparrow Pediatric Rehabilitation Program at the Sparrow Regional Children’s Center. It is part of Sparrow’s affiliation with Children’s Miracle Network, an international not-for-profit organization raising funds for 170 children’s hospitals.

Imagine a child who broke a leg in a car accident...or a child recovering from a brain tumor...or a baby with Down Syndrome. These children all face serious developmental setbacks. In order to make comebacks, they come to Sparrow Pediatric Rehabilitation. Together, with their families and therapists, they learn to face what may be the hardest fight in their short lives.

The Ron Mason Fund for Kids

Sparrow Pediatric Rehab has many success stories. Some are dramatic, life-changing accomplishments. Others are small, personal achievements. Each is important. Families of these children are strengthened by the support they receive from their therapists—many of whom become like family members.

Membership
Donations to the Ron Mason Fund for Kids help Sparrow continue to provide this personal, individualized and compassionate care. Insurance companies often limit the amount of rehab a patient may receive or stop paying altogether. Parents of children who require extensive rehab struggle to maintain their jobs and keep up with a rehab schedule. Donors can help make rehab available to all children who need it.

Half of all contributions to the Ron Mason Fund For Kids go directly to the Pediatric Rehabilitation department. The rest are reserved in an endowment fund. The goal is to build the endowment fund to $1 million. Donors are asked to make a minimum gift of $10,000 payable over 10 years to be a member of the Ron Mason Fund. Gifts of any amount are always welcome.

Other giving levels which can be paid over five years include:

    $2,500  Hat Trick
    $1,000  Shut Out
       $500  Save
       $100  Slap Shot

Donors making a $10,000 commitment will become Ron Mason Fund for Kids Members and are eligible to receive many exclusive benefits. All Ron Mason Fund For Kids members will receive:

  • The benefit of knowing your dollars are helping hundreds of mid-Michigan children each year receive the rehabilitation care they need;
  • An exclusive Lands End parka or jacket bearing the fund’s logo;
  • Annual invitation to The Ron Mason Fund For Kids hockey get-together;
  • Invitation to (and special recognition at) the annual CMN Donor Awards Banquet;
  • Membership in the Sparrow Foundation Philanthropist League (membership begins at $10,000 in cumulative gifts or pledges) at the appropriate level, and an engraved plaque placed on the donor wall in the hospital’s front lobby.
