A Surgery Orientation Program is provided free to children scheduled for surgery at Sparrow Hospital and their parents.
This program has been designed to familiarize children (3 years and older) with the hospital and to decrease anxiety associated with an upcoming surgery.
The orientation includes:
- Tour of a surgical suite
- Medical play
- Questions and answer period
- Cookies and punch
- Goodie bags
On the day of the program, participants are asked to meet at Sparrow Hospital's Information Desk located at the main entrance to the hospital. Child Life Specialists run the Surgery Orientation Program.
